Thank you for choosing Sakhi to be a part of your personal safety journey.
At Sakhi, we believe that feeling safe is not just about responding to emergencies, it is also about being informed, prepared and connected to the people who matter most. Sakhi has been created to help you stay connected, informed and better prepared during situations where you may need assistance. Whether you are travelling alone, returning home late, exploring a new place or simply looking for an added layer of reassurance, Sakhi brings together a range of technology-enabled safety features to support you.
This Safety Policy is your guide to understanding how Sakhi works and how you can make the most of its features. It explains the purpose of each feature in simple language and provides practical guidance for using the Platform effectively.
While we have tried to keep this document simple and easy to understand, it should be read together with our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, User Consent and Acknowledgement Form and any other policies or notices made available through the Platform from time to time. Those documents contain important information regarding your rights, responsibilities, privacy and the terms governing your use of Sakhi. While we work continuously to make the Platform as reliable and effective as possible, it is important to understand what Sakhi can do, what it cannot do, and how you can use it most effectively.
We hope this guide helps you use Sakhi with confidence.
Sakhi is a technology-enabled personal safety platform developed to assist individuals before, during and after situations where they may require safety-related support. The Platform combines a range of safety-focused features, including the Sakhi App, the Sakhi Wearable Device, Protectors, Safety Grid, the AI Safety Assistant, SOS functionality and other safety tools, to help you communicate with trusted people, access useful safety information and respond more effectively during emergencies.
Sakhi is designed to support your personal safety by making it easier to connect with your chosen Protectors, share relevant information during an SOS, understand the safety conditions around you and access various preventive and emergency assistance features available through the Platform.
At the same time, it is important to understand what Sakhi is not.
Sakhi is not a police authority, law enforcement agency, emergency response service, ambulance service, healthcare provider, disaster management authority or private security agency. The Platform does not replace emergency services or professional assistance, nor should it be relied upon as the sole means of ensuring your safety.
Whenever the situation requires, you should immediately contact the appropriate emergency authorities and take any reasonable steps necessary to protect yourself and those around you. Sakhi is intended to support your safety; it is not a substitute for awareness and/or personal judgment.
Sakhi is an integrated safety ecosystem in which different features work together to provide you with assistance before, during and after a safety-related incident. Depending on your device, permissions, subscription plan and the features available at the relevant time, the Sakhi ecosystem may include:
Each of these components performs a different function. Some features depend on internet connectivity, GPS availability, Bluetooth connectivity, device permissions and your phone's operating system.
For details about permissions required by the Platform, please refer to the Privacy Policy.
What Sakhi does — Sakhi provides technology that enables you to communicate safety concerns, activate SOS alerts, share location information with your chosen Protectors, access safety-related information and make use of various preventive and emergency assistance features available through the Platform. The Platform is intended to support your personal safety by helping you reach the right people and access relevant safety tools more quickly when required.
What Sakhi does not do — While Sakhi is designed to assist you during safety-related situations, it is not a police authority, law enforcement agency, emergency service provider, healthcare provider, disaster response organisation or private security agency. The Platform does not replace emergency services, professional assistance or your own judgment. Whenever required, you should contact the appropriate emergency authorities directly and continue to take reasonable precautions to protect your safety.
For more information about the scope of Sakhi's services and limitations, please refer to the Terms of Use.
Protectors are people you trust to help you during a safety-related situation. Choose Protectors who:
Your Protectors may receive information such as your SOS alert, your location and your live location during an active SOS. To understand how such information is collected from you, and what extent of it is accessible to the Protector, please refer to the Privacy Policy.
Remember that once this information is shared with your Protectors, Sakhi cannot control how they subsequently use or share it. For this reason, choose your Protectors carefully and review your list regularly.
The SOS feature is designed to help you quickly notify others when you believe you may require assistance. You can activate an SOS either through the Sakhi App or the Sakhi Wearable Device, depending on the features available to you.
Single-Press SOS — A Single-Press SOS immediately alerts your chosen Protectors. Your Protectors receive:
They also receive your location at the time the SOS is activated. Your live location continues to be shared for up to 24 hours, unless you cancel the SOS earlier. A Single-Press SOS is intended to notify only your Protectors.
Double-Press SOS — A Double-Press SOS is designed for situations where additional assistance may be required. Depending on the features made available by you and the services available at the relevant time, a Double-Press SOS may:
The exact sequence of events may vary depending on your device, network availability and the services supported in your location.
For detailed information regarding SOS workflows, emergency escalation and feature limitations, please refer to the Terms of Use.
Once an SOS has been activated, Sakhi automatically begins a number of safety processes designed to help preserve information and assist your Protectors. Depending on your device and permissions:
You remain in control throughout the process. If you no longer require assistance, you can cancel an active SOS through the Sakhi App or by pressing and holding the button on your Sakhi Wearable Device for approximately five (5) seconds. The Wearable Device emits a confirmation beep once the cancellation has been registered.
The Safety Grid is designed to help you make more informed decisions about your surroundings. Using Sakhi's Safety Intelligence Engine, the Safety Grid provides general safety awareness by indicating areas that may present different levels of safety risk based on available information and Sakhi's analysis.
The Safety Grid is intended to support your awareness; it is not a crime prediction system or a guarantee that any location is completely safe or unsafe. Safety conditions may change at any time, so you should always remain aware of your surroundings and exercise your own judgment, regardless of the Safety Grid displayed on the Platform.
For more information about how the Safety Grid is generated, information collected and processed from you for its functioning, and its limitations, please refer to the Terms of Use.
The Sakhi AI Safety Assistant is your in-app guide to using the Platform. You can ask the assistant to help you:
The AI Safety Assistant is designed to assist you, but it does not make emergency decisions on your behalf. For your safety, only you can decide when to activate an SOS. The AI Safety Assistant cannot trigger an SOS, contact your Protectors or communicate with emergency services on your behalf.
To understand the AI Safety Assistant better, please refer to the Terms of Use.
The Sakhi Wearable Device is designed to help you activate an SOS quickly without needing to unlock or access your phone. To ensure the Device works effectively:
If the Device becomes disconnected from your phone, has a depleted battery or is outside Bluetooth range, certain features may not function as intended.
To understand exactly how the Wearable works, what safety features it offers, how to take care of it and other warranty provisions related to it, please refer to the Terms of Use.
Protecting your privacy is an important part of Sakhi. Certain information, such as your location, recordings or emergency alerts, is shared only to provide the safety features you choose to use.
You remain in control of many of these features through your settings and permissions.
To understand what information Sakhi collects, how it is used, who it may be shared with and the permissions required for different features, please read our Privacy Policy.
To get the most from Sakhi, we recommend that you:
Technology is most effective when combined with preparation and good judgment.
