2.4. Sakhi processes personal information only for legitimate purposes connected with providing, securing, improving and maintaining the Platform and its safety-related services. The extent of such personal information collected, processed and stored, and the manner in which such collection, processing and storage shall take place, has been described more particularly in the subsequent clauses of this Privacy Policy.

3. Information We Collect

3.1. Sakhi collects information that You voluntarily provide, information generated through Your use of the Platform, and information automatically collected through Your device and associated technologies when You use the Platform. Such information is collected to verify Your identity, create and manage Your account, provide access to Platform features and maintain security.

3.2. The information collected may be shared only to such limited extent by Sakhi, with the Protectors selected by You, the emergency service providers (where escalation is required), the Sakhi Response Hub and nearby Sakhi user(s) wherever applicable or required. The purpose of collecting such information is to meet the vision of Sakhi being a preventive safety application, and to provide support promptly in cases of emergency. No information shall be collected without Your express consent and/or permission, and only such information for which such consent is made expressly available shall be collected, processed and/or stored. The Platform shall provide a separate Consent Form before You begin the use of the Platform, listing all kinds, manners and methods of collection, processing and storage of personal information, prior to collection of any personal or other information.

3.3. Sakhi collects only such personal data which is necessary for providing, securing and improving the Platform and its safety features. Sakhi does not collect information unrelated to the operation of the Services.

3.4. You are responsible for ensuring that all information provided by You is accurate, complete and updated.

3.5. The categories of information collected have been specified in the subsequent clauses.

4. Account and Registration Information

4.1. The Sakhi Platform is intended for individuals who are eighteen (18) years of age or above. Sakhi does not knowingly permit persons below eighteen (18) years of age to create accounts or use safety services requiring personal data.

4.2. By creating, registering and/or accessing an account on the Platform, You represent and warrant that You are eighteen (18) years of age or above and are legally capable of using the Platform.

4.3. You shall be solely responsible for ensuring that You meet the applicable age requirement before accessing or using the Platform. Sakhi shall not be responsible for any access, use, registration or information submitted by any individual who has falsely represented their age or eligibility to use the Platform.

8. Protector Information

8.1. The Platform allows You to add trusted contacts ("Protectors") who may receive safety alerts initiated by You.

8.2. A Protector joins by invitation only. A Protector cannot watch over, monitor or access the information of any end user who has not invited them. A Protector sees only such information as the inviting end user chooses to share through the Platform.

8.3. A Protector may be associated with one or more end users. Each association is independent, and a Protector accesses information only in respect of the end user or end users who have invited and retained them, and sees only what the end user shares with them through the app.

8.4. Where You add a Protector, Sakhi may process:

  • Protector name;
  • Mobile number or other contact information;
  • Account-related information necessary for communication;
  • Invite code and OTP verification information used to confirm the Protector's identity and link the Protector to the inviting end user;

9. Information Accessible to the Protector

9.1. A Protector, when added by invitation by a User, shall be required to complete OTP-based verification through the contact details provided by such Protector before being granted access to any safety-related information shared through the Platform. Such verification is intended to confirm control over the registered mobile number and enable secure access to the Protector functionality. Sakhi does not independently verify the identity, background, relationship or personal details of any Protector added by a User.

9.2. The User shall be solely responsible for selecting, inviting and managing Protectors and shall ensure that such person is informed and consents to receiving safety alerts and information shared through the Platform. Sakhi shall not be responsible for any act, omission, misuse or failure to respond by any Protector.

9.3. For the functionality of the App, a Protector might access the following information related to the end user:

9.4. Such information is accessible to the Protector to assess the status of the end user's safety, to be sent safety notifications where needed, and for Platform functionality.

9.5. The Protector is not an agent, employee or representative of Sakhi. Sakhi plays no part in the actions, inactions, decisions or responses of any Protector upon accessing such information at any given time. All such actions and their consequences shall remain the sole responsibility of the concerned Protector.

10. Sakhi Wearable Device Information

10.1. The Sakhi Wearable Device is a small Bluetooth wearable that can raise an SOS without the user having to touch or reach their phone. Such wearable may be in the form of everyday objects, making it a discreet wearable that can be easily carried everywhere by the user.

10.2. The Device functions in connection with the Sakhi mobile application installed on the User's paired mobile device and relies on the Bluetooth connection between the Device and such mobile device to transmit safety alerts.

12.11. Users shall exercise independent judgement and shall not rely solely on Safety Grid information while making safety-related decisions.

12.12. You acknowledge that real-world conditions may change after information is generated and therefore the Platform may not always reflect immediate changes in circumstances.

12.13. You acknowledge and agree that no application, website, software platform, wearable device or safety service can guarantee absolute safety or prevent the occurrence of any unlawful act, accident, threat or adverse event. Sakhi is designed as a preventive personal safety tool intended to assist You in raising alerts, sharing information and accessing safety-related features. However, the Platform does not guarantee that any incident, harm, injury, loss, crime or emergency situation will be prevented, or that assistance, response or intervention will always be available, immediate or successful.

12.14. Your use of the Platform, Sakhi Wearable Device or any safety feature does not replace Your own judgement, precautionary measures or the need to contact appropriate emergency authorities where required.

13. Payment Information

13.1. Where You purchase any product, subscription, service or other offering through the Platform, Sakhi may process certain information required to facilitate and complete such transaction. Such information may include:

  • Your name;
  • Your registered mobile number and email address;
  • Transaction details;
  • Subscription details;
  • Order details;
  • Payment status;
  • Billing information; and
  • Other information necessary for processing payments, refunds, cancellations or customer support requests.

13.2. Sakhi does not directly store or process complete payment instrument details such as card numbers, CVV details, UPI credentials or banking passwords. Payments may be processed through third-party payment gateway providers integrated with the Platform.

13.3. When You initiate a payment, the relevant payment gateway provider may collect and process certain financial and transaction-related information in accordance with its own privacy policy and applicable laws.

13.4. You acknowledge that Sakhi does not control the independent processing activities of third-party payment providers and shall not be responsible for any unauthorised use, disclosure or security incident occurring within such third-party systems.

13.5. Transaction records may be retained by Sakhi for such period as required for accounting, taxation, dispute resolution, fraud prevention and compliance with applicable laws.

13.6. You represent and warrant that any payment information provided by You belongs to You or that You are legally authorised to use such payment method.

Retention and Erasure Principle: We retain Your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the specific purposes for which it was collected, or to comply with applicable statutory legal obligations. Once the purpose for data collection is fulfilled or consent is withdrawn, we initiate our data erasure process to permanently delete, de-identify or anonymise Your data across our active systems and third-party processors, subject to the retention schedules detailed below.

22.3. Indicative Retention Schedule: To balance Your right to privacy with our operational, safety and legal compliance requirements, we adhere to the following retention periods:

Data categoryRetention periodPurpose
Account and profile data Active account lifespan + 30 days Retained to maintain Your active account. Upon a deletion request, a 30-day cooling-off period applies, allowing You to reactivate Your account if desired. After 30 days, core profile data is permanently purged or anonymised.
SOS, safety event logs and location history 12 months Mandated under the DPDP Rules and CERT-In guidelines to maintain system security logs, audit trails and data processing history for safety-critical platforms.
SOS audio recordings 30 days Retained for immediate post-incident verification, dispute resolution and emergency evaluation. Files are automatically purged after 30 days, unless a specific file is placed on a legal hold due to an ongoing law enforcement investigation.
Payment and transaction records 8 years Retained to comply with mandatory financial and statutory requirements under Indian tax laws, including the Companies Act, 2013 and the GST Act.

22.4. Technical Execution of Erasure: When data reaches the end of its retention period, or when an account is fully deleted (following the 30-day cooling-off window), we remove Your personal identity attributes from our active databases. Any historical, transactional or telemetry data that we are legally required to keep is strictly isolated, encrypted and pseudonymised (linked only to a random, non-identifiable surrogate key) to prevent it from being traced back to You.

22.5.
